Rosehall Run Pinot Noir

Since our debut release in 2004, when Wine Access wine writer and National Wine Awards judge David Lawrason declared it “one of Six Wines that Define Canada’s Future” our pinot noir has been synomonous with Old World excellence from a Brave New World. Upon receiving a Gold Medal at the 2012 Napa Valley Pinot Noir Shoot-out, founder and winemaker Dan Sullivan was invited to share his insights on the potential of this new wine region in Canada at the 2012 Napa Valley Pinot Conference.

History has shown that our Pinot’s have the power and finesse to mature with grace.  Upon visiting Rosehall Run in 2019, UK wine critic Jamie Goode was treated to some back vintages including the 2007 JCR Pinot Noir (Score 94): “We tried some of his older wines, and these showed why the County is such an exciting place for wine growing: they had developed beautifully.”

When asked why he thinks Rosehall Run’s pinot noirs have such staying power, Dan Sullivan offers this: “we grow wines that are both a reflection of the terroir and the vintage, striving for balance and elegance over sheer extraction. I think one of the great attributes of fine Pinot Noir is the potential to provide enjoyment in youth and with some age. Power can be a haunting suggestion as opposed to an emphatic declaration. In fact, I think the former is rarer than the latter and is what makes our vineyard so special.” With innovative winemaker Lee Baker, joining our team for the 2020 vintage, the success of our Pinot Noir bottlings continues to grow.
