2016 HUNGRY POINT UNOAKED CHARDONNAY
VQA PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY
ESTATE GROWN & BOTTLED
Availability Winery Retail, Online
SILVER, WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada
All of the Chardonnay in this wine is grown at Rosehall Run from vines planted between 2002 and 2007 with a healthy proportion (25%) of Chardonnay Musqué. This Chardonnay was fermented cold in stainless steel to preserve the aromatics and fresh fruit character. Bottled March 2017.
Medium bodied with bright citrusy aromas; flavours through the mid-palate are lemon zest, pear and peach with hints of grapefruit lingering on the finish. Superbly well balanced.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Try with raw or lightly cooked seafood like crab and prawns, great with oysters, lightly buttered pasta or risotto with mushrooms, or any simply prepared white meat, like lemon chicken or roasted pork.
“This bottle comes from Prince Edward County fruit…A highlight of this wine is the texture, it’s a little heavy and while flavours of apple and peach open up a nice mineral note follows. Simply put, this is great winemaking. This wine offers the mouth feel of a Chardonnay that has spent some time in barrel, but even with the extra depth and character it is a wine that will be crowd pleasing.”

“Fresh and crisp unoaked Chardonnay from one of Prince Edward County's best producers. Notes of white melon and Asian pear. Match with shellfish.” Score 91 Natalie Maclean, nataliemaclean.com
“This is a lovely, bright, firm and juicy chardonnay from the limestone soils of PEC. It sports fine aromas of MacIntosh apple, a touch of lees, fennel and white flowers. It is mid-weight, very refreshing and solidly constructed with very good length.” David Lawrason, WineAlign.com
“Lifted, alluring aromas of floral notes, citrus and orchard fruit abound. It dishes up full-blown flavours of lemon yoghurt, Key lime pie and mineral notes bathing the palate infusing the balanced and beautiful, lip-smacking finish. It’s medium bodied with, stunning purity of fruit, good mouthfeel and excellent grapefruit tang on the lingering aftertaste. Pour with pan-seared fish, grilled prawns, roast chicken or pork.” ****1/2 Vic Harradine, winecurrent.com
