Site and Viticulture

Sourced from our oldest chardonnay vines planted in 2001 and 2002, our signature estate bottling continues to define the unique Prince Edward County terroir.

Winemaking Description

The chardonnay underwent a 16 month fermentation and maturation entirely in 500 L French oak puncheons. The oak has been integrated into the powerful core of fruit effortlessly making it a discreet supporting cameo.

Tasting Notes

With an invitingly spicy whiff of smoke on the bouquet, ripe tropical notes are woven with spicy baked apple to deliver a refreshing, full intensity tasting experience. A grand finish with mineral/citrus cut and outstanding length, this bottling should evolve even more complexity over the next 5 years and live for a decade or more.

Critical Acclaim

“This is very much in the approachable, smoother Dan Sullivan style - almost deceptively easy to like, but when you delve into the glass the complexity and depth emerge. The vines were ten years of age in 2010, and what struck me here was the excellent length as a result. It's a mid-weight, almost creamy, sweetish style with considerable oak brulee, gentle smokiness and nuttiness, atop yellow apple, almost peachy fruit from the warmer vintage. Quite sleek but there is a solid core of acidity that leads into a notable chalky minerality on the finish. And the length is excellent indeed..” 91 points David Lawrason, WineAlign.com
