100% sourced from our Estate North Block, planted 2001 and 2002.
As with all of our JCR bottlings, this Pinot Noir was selected barrel by barrel from the 2014 Harvest of Estate Grown fruit, aging in our cellar blasted deep in the PEC limestone. Aged in French oak, predominantly 265 L hogsheads, about 60% new oak was used and it remained in barrel on fine lees without racking for nearly 17 months. The final blend was assembled with no fining or filtration prior to bottling.
Well-structured Pinot Noir, with lots of red berries and hints of smokiness on the nose; on the palate layers of raspberry, cherry and black current flavours along with dried herbs and smoky characters, long and lingering finish.

This pinot noir pairs well with a wide range of foods, beautifully with charcuterie and cold cuts, seared salmon and tuna, or gamier meats like roasted duck breast with plum sauce, or rosemary spring lamb. Also lovely with aged cheddar cheese.

“This is a light pinot, very much in the PEC style. It is also utterly charming. Expect pale ruby colour. The nose shows lifted cran-cherry, floral and gently applied oak spice, toast and vanillin. All well fitted. It's light bodied in the pinot realm but right on cue for the County, especially in this lighter vintage. It's pretty, even and the length is excellent.
